What does it take to unlock people’s potential?

In our experience it requires going beyond the intellectual and transactional layer to tap into beliefs, resources and motivations that drive us all.

In this series of articles we begin with an introduction to a powerful yet beautifully simple way of exploring what lies beneath.

Insights Discovery is a psychometric tool based on the psychology of Carl Jung.  It is designed to help people understand themselves and others and enable them to make the most of the relationships and interactions they have every day.

One of the things that makes Insights Discovery so effective is its simplicity to understand and use.  It uses a memorable model made up of four colour energies (Fiery Red, Sunshine Yellow, Cool Blue and Earth Green) to help people understand their style, their strengths and the value they bring to the team.  Everyone has a unique mix of the four colour energies and tends to find that one colour dominates.

Those who lead with Fiery Red are assertive, determined and often competitive.  They like to get things moving, are decisive and make quick decisions.  Those who lead with Sunshine Yellow are enthusiastic, sociable and persuasive.  They relish the company of others and have a desire to be involved.  Those who lead with Cool Blue are logical, detail-focused and structured.  They like information to be accurate and complete before making a decision.  Finally, those who lead with Earth Green are nurturing, caring and relaxed.  They view the world through what they value and what is important to them.

Of course, it is important to remember that Insights Discovery is not about giving you a label saying “that’s you” …we are a combination of all four colour energies and have the ability to make choices about how we use the colour energies inside us.  The power of self-awareness and understanding, gives you more choice and options about how you use these colour energies. Knowledge of Insights Discovery also gives us an understanding of how others operate and see the world, meaning that we can adapt our strategies to make the most of the interactions we have.

Each person who completes an Insights Discovery evaluator receives a detailed personality profile and an introduction session with one of our qualified practitioners, either as part of a workshop or a 1:1 coaching session.

The impact of Insights Discovery isn’t simply in the profiles though – that is just the start! The power of this tool is really seen when people take their new self-awareness back with them to the day job.  When communication is consistently clear and respectful, when managers know how to motivate their people, when salespeople beat their targets by understanding how to relate to their customers, and when people can use a common language to help them build rapport and adapt their style to strengthen personal and professional relationships, you’ll realise the measurable impact that investing in people development, using Insights Discovery, can bring.

By using Insights Discovery to increase self-awareness, people and teams can be helped to perform at their highest level. What is your experience? We would be interested to hear your thoughts on which psychometric tools have worked for you or your team.
